Or for you history buffs - Macy & Gimbels?
Here is a story about Tarrant County’s long, determined march to improve their criminal justice operations - from online filings between 43 law enforcement agencies and the district attorney to electronic dockets and online plea agreements. All to speed up and reduce the cost of administering justice while making it more certain. http://tinyurl.com/azb5dp
So I applaud their efforts while weep at the cost of their customized solution - $5.3M. Of course, when they started (2004 - a generation ago in technology years), there wasn’t the advanced technology available today - hybrid solutions offering the flexibility of customized at the cost of commercial off the shelf (COTS). So, for all you forward thinking justice community partners, who want to enhance your operations and reduce costs, consider this technology approach. http://tinyurl.com/bcth85

Hello,
My name is Robert McLaws, and I work for XPedient Technologies, the company developing the solution for Tarrant County. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the link to our project. We’re very excited about the press we’ve been getting, and we’re big fans of your work as well. We started out much the same way as you did, and we hope we can be as successful.
I did want to point out some errors in your post, however. The $5.3M cost is over the lifetime of the contract, and includes training and support over a number of years. And you should not be fooled by the start date, we didn’t begin actual development until late last year. Our COTS solution, with never-before-seen levels of customization, will be rolling out to our first customers this fall, with wider commercial availability early next year.
At any rate, thanks for all you’re doing with moving our industry forward, and we look forward to working with you in the future!
Robert McLaws
